Dog houses make a difference for Mandela Day
Updated: Aug 19, 2019
A few months back, a small settlement called Green Village (near Langebaanweg) contacted us to ask for some assistance with their over-population and care of their animals.
In honour of Mandela Day, Langebaan Animal Care field-workers and volunteers came in for a day of hard work!
We delivered and set-up 15 dog houses for dogs we had identified that had inadequate shelter. We went from house to house to get signatures from the community for the sterilisation of cats and dogs to help with the population issue. The West Coast CVC will be conducting these sterilisations on the 19th of August 2019, in association with Longacres Animal Hospital, run by Derette Kotze.
We checked on all the animals in the village and we retrieved two puppies that were ill. They received treatment and are now recovering in foster care. We found one very ill cat who is also under-going treatment and will be back to full health soon. Once they are ready for adoption, we will advertise.
The community was very helpful and accommodating. We look forward to our follow up visit to do the sterilisations and check on the other puppies.
A special thank you to our sponsors for making this day possible:
